Universal Market Model

TruMarket is as powerful as 5 separate engines, yet operates as a single transaction platform. Through its universal market model, orders in the system behave according to a set of customizable business rules — rules that define expiration, price adjustment, product attributes, counterparty permissions, and more. Mated with our programmable node-based architecture and matching core, virtually any type of commerce model can be supported.

TruMarket comes pre-defined with support for:

  • Bid/Ask Exchanges
  • Forward and Reverse Auctions
  • Multi-Item RFQs
  • Modified Structured Negotiations
  • Fixed-Price Catalogs

Custom order types can be defined and deployed as necessary - TruMarket is as flexible as your market is.

The Right User Interface for Your Industry

The TruMarket user interface can be fully customized to best suit the users of your online marketplace. TruMarket's "pluggable" UI architecture means that the front-end can be modified or completely replaced without affecting back-end functionality. This allows you to protect your investment in end-user training and familiarity with existing applications.

TruMarket supports both HTML-based interfaces and Java-based interfaces (when streaming quotes or other real-time market interaction is required.)

Configurable Workflow Using Graphical Tools

TruMarket 2.0 Marketplace Edition includes two powerful visual tools to assist with the customization and deployment of TruMarket-powered markets. Market components can be modified on-the-fly, allowing changes and additions to system behavior with no downtime.

  • MarketBuilder™ - is a GUI-based application designed to easily configure and deploy the various back-end components of a marketplace. This defines market operation rules and allows functional elements to be reconfigured, as necessary. Integration points can be specified and messages can be re-routed to other components in the market engine.

  • InterfaceBuilder™ - is a companion application designed for effectively defining and deploying the user interface flow of an online market. Administrators can easily re-organize page operations and manage XSL stylesheet use.

Robust Administrative Module

TruMarket's Exchange Administrator Interface (EAI) is a complete management module for configuring and maintaining a live exchange. The EAI is a powerful and easy-to-administer utility, available either through the web or as a stand-alone application, allowing exchange administrators to:

  • Manage product categories and taxonomies
  • Manage users and hierarchical trading groups
  • Control credit limits and access-control permissions
  • Establish and modify trading rules

The Most Powerful Bid/Ask Engine Available

TruMarket's bid/ask support is still the most comprehensive and powerful offering available, with underlying functionality that has been in development for over 2 years.

With native support for multi-attribute matching, multiple clearing models, our integrated patent-pending Commodity Filter™, and a NASDAQ Level II-style interface, TruMarket's bid/ask capabilities drive a new level of liquidity and efficiency to online markets, vastly surpassing traditional catalog and bulletin-board-style systems as the most effective mechanism for commodity and near-commodity trading.

Modified Structured Negotiations

Even in the most liquid and open markets, users still need to negotiate and create counter offers in the system. The Modified Structured Negotiation feature of TruMarket allows for one-to-one or many-to-one negotiations on a per attribute basis. Counteroffers can be private (targeted to particular users or organizations) or public (reflected in the open market) depending on user or marketplace preference.

Attribute-based matching engine

At the core of TruMarket is a powerful attribute processing engine for creating, viewing, and matching orders. Because each order defines a buyer or seller's precise preferences, buyers and sellers can find each other more reliably and complete their transactions more efficiently.

TruMarket also supports a variety of exchange-defined matching rules and algorithms, including price-time, pro-rata, and other models.

User-defined views keep information relevant

TruMarket uses TruExchange's patent-pending Commodity Filter™ and Quantity Filter™ technologies to enable participants to see only the most relevant "slices" of the marketplace and to spend less time searching.

The Commodity Filter enables the real time view of a live marketplace that best fits the order and product characteristics desired by that user. These can be defined as broadly or as narrowly as the user desires.

For example, if a 128 MB DRAM buyer will accept 8ns, 9ns, or 10ns chips, TruMarket will show him all such products, but no others, in his custom view of the market. Another buyer, who does care about the difference, can just as easily configure his view to treat them as independent goods. Both can trade simultaneously, yet each will see a slightly different slice of the overall marketplace. Users gain commodity-like trading efficiency for multi-attribute goods.

The Quantity Filter provides powerful, automatic aggregation across orders from multiple buyers and sellers.

If, for example, a certain buyer on a steel exchange specifies a market for 10,000 lbs. of hot-rolled prime steel but sellers only have lots of 2,000 lbs. available, the Quantity Filter will automatically group the five best offers together to create a custom virtual offer of 10,000 lbs. Should the buyer accept the combined offer, the system will automatically clear the five separate transactions seamlessly and quickly.

Dynamic Pricing

Full support is included for a range of sophisticated dynamic pricing options, including price-time mappings to allow orders to change their price according to a specified time schedule, and price-quantity mappings to enable integrated quantity discounts.

Market Hunter™

A unique combination of processes allowing buyers and sellers to participate automatically in the dynamic marketplace, even if they are not active market "traders," Market Hunter can also automatically generate RFQs and literally seek out dormant market members to draw them to the active marketplace. This can be done via email, fax, phone, or other communications protocols.

Brokered Transactions

Special broker-enabling functionality such as order queuing and bundling, buy-sell triggers, and user-specific pricing rules enable brokers to best transition their existing business to online markets without giving up the flexibility that playing the middleman affords them.

Private Trading Rooms

TruMarket offers full support for both integrated and private-labeled (with a customized corporate name, logo, and color scheme) trading rooms. These separate trading areas allow linked orders that are dual-listed in both a private and public trading room (with the capability for different prices in each).

Private Trading Rooms can be individually managed by an exchange-specified owner, who has control over user access, trade placement, and other room behavior.

Personal Portfolio & Order Templates

Users can maintain both an online personal portfolio, or "virtual catalog" of items that they intend to trade in the market and order templates - placeholders for frequently-used orders to save time during order placement.

Multi-Currency Support

Orders can be placed in users' local currencies, and the matching engine will automatically match the transactions appropriately, provided that exchange rate information is available.
